Mr. Amarkai Amarteifio, Consul-General of Sweden and Dean of the honorary Consular Corps of Ghana met with his colleague members of the board of Directors of the World Federation of Consular Corps (FICAC) at the opening session of the Executive Committee meeting that took place in Accra yesterday.
The Federation is a non-profit making body consisting of the consuls of various countries across the world which currently has 60 countries as members, four of which are in Africa, Ghana.
The meeting is the first by the world body to be held in Africa and the fourth to be organized in the world since the assumption of office of the new 11-member Executive Committee elected in November 2003 in Athens, Greece.
Seven out of the 11 members of the committee are attending the meeting to brainstorm on the way forward for the association.
Mr. Roland Dahlman, President of the Federation said the Federation supports trade among countries and also democratic and economic development. “It is, therefore, not surprising that Ghana was selected among the African countries to host the meeting”, he added.
